Occupational Accident

Occupational accident insurance is a type of insurance that provides benefits to employees or the families of employees who are injured or killed in job-related accidents. It can be used to offer benefits to independent contractors and to classes of employees who are not covered by a government operated workers’ compensation policy.

Because of the possibility of a vehicular accident, those involved in trucking (truck operators and trucking companies) often secure themselves from the hazards of occupational accidents by purchasing occupational accident insurance policies. An occupational accident policyholder is usually entitled to the following after experiencing an accident while at work: payment for health care, an amount equal to a fraction of the annual salary in case of dismemberment or death, and money given for a certain period of time, based on a part of the regular salary.
